06[17:08] * inhahe kind of wants to make a new Marble Madness
01[17:10] <inhahe> had it in the back of my mind for years and years but probably won't
[17:11] <DusteD> inhahe, just to try and implement a marble-madness type of game or do you have some interesting twist on the concept ? there's an opensource 3d game called neverball that has a bit of marble-maness feel to it
01[17:17] <inhahe> DusteD: basically just implement marble madness with my own worlds. maybe think up some new twists. i was thinking it should have realistic physics, so the incline would have to be really shallow so the terminal velocity is slow enough. but then it would probably take forever to accelerate. so idk about that. and i had some ideas yesterday like you fall into an inverse dome where you
01[17:17] <inhahe> have to sling yourself around the inner wall of the dome to get up and out of it. or another idea where you go down quickly and then rise back up just to the point of getting back to your original speed. and an idea where the path splits into two or more. and an idea where something shoots your ball back up to the top and it lands in just the right place. nothing that groundbreaking
01[17:17] <inhahe> though.
01[17:17] <inhahe> and moving/morphing paths
01[17:18] <inhahe> maybe connections connecting and disconnecting
01[17:18] <inhahe> i don't even remember what features the original head
01[17:18] <inhahe> had
[17:18] <DusteD> inhahe, ooh, cool ^_^ maybe also different materials with different friction ? or pickups to polish or roughen up your marble to make it more or less smooth ?
[17:19] <DusteD> "you are now a cube, game over"
01[17:19] <inhahe> yeah, that would be cool
[17:20] <DusteD> I love those games where the physics lets you "be" there.. they don't have to be good or realistic physics, just.. allow for the player to feel like they're doing cool stuff
[17:22] <DusteD> an often underestimated part of game dev (even hobby stuff) is asset creation, making nice graphics and levels and animations for certain types of games can be way more working than coding the engine and game logic
